intro & goals
I am a lifelong learner and educator who believes firmly in the power of political education as a means for our collective freedom. I am a practitioner of revolutionary Pan-Africanism, doing my best to walk in the footsteps of giants like Alice Kinloch and George Jackson. Like many Afrikans born and raised in the United States, I have always sought answers to deep political questions centering on capitalism, imperialism, identity, and related phenomena.
I am committed to disrupting academia’s commitment to policing what knowledge is, who gets to produce it, and who gets to access it. I entered the PhD program to fast-track my ability to teach, so that I could continue to build a revolutionary pedagogical practice; I did not enter the program to be captured by academia.
My goal in this and any course within the academy is to extract knowledge, share it, and make it useful for the sake of the above-mentioned fight for liberation. My experience in Digital Humanities last semester was both enjoyable and useful, and I think this course will be too.
